iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

Haven’t seen much on this yet and was curious if anyone out there with either an iPhone 12 or 12 Pro is experiencing any overheating issues. I had major overheating problems while setting up the iPhone which isn’t too out of the norm. However the overheating issues have seemed to persist since getting the phone set up. The backup is fully restored so there shouldn’t be much background activity occurring. I’m also experiencing abysmal battery life as well, along side the drastic overheating. I do tend to favor 5G On over 5G Auto as I live in an area with a pretty expansive sub6 5G network. But either way the phone is still prone to overheat under minimal load. I also have been experiencing an occasional flicker on the screen which is something I haven’t seen on any apple oled panels before. Like I said I haven’t seen many forums or posts anywhere about this issue so thought I would reach out to the community and see if anyone is experiencing anything similar!

But only using one app for less than 15 minutes (e.g. reading the news) and the device overheating to the point that it’s too hot to touch is not normal. I have been told borh by the reaeller and Apple Support that this device needs to be repaired. I suggest everyone who experience inreasonable overheating woth their iPhone 12 Pro return it to be repaired or replaced. This is surely a manufacturing error, something’s wrong with a batch of devices.

Overheating is heating above normal. My 12 max shouldn’t be warm or heating up at all. I’ve owned every iPhone since I first purchased the 3s way back, and none of my past phones have gotten warm or heated up.

im very frustrated because this is a persistent issue and it’s my second iPhone 12 that has been heating up.

my first purchase was the smaller iPhone 12; I returned it because of the overheating issue, and got the 12 max.

now I see all the complaints, I might have waited til apple worked the kinks out before trading in my perfect XR!

I just hope this OVERHEATING issue is resolved quickly. Apple has always been able to fix or replace every issue I’ve had……so far.

I’m wondering if I should run over my iPhone 12 Max Pro? There is nothing allowed to run in the background. I have converted over to 4 other podcast apps in order to avoid a fire by using Apple podcast app…my phone is seconds away from bursting into flames at least 50% of the day; the other 50% it’s just hot, not burning. If Apple tells me one more time to turn off apps- I will have to respond with Go F yourself. I didn’t pay another $1400 18 months after last phone to be burned every time I pick it up. Apple should be ashamed of themselves. This phone is a piece of sht.

Because the phone is faulty and Apple has yet to fix this problem. They just keep telling people to turn off all background apps. Fine- but that means you also can’t ever open any apps- because then the phone has to work and it will overheat within minutes. This is the worst phone I’ve ever owned. Truly a piece of garbage. Apple- you are going to lose me- and then everyone I know, and my private practice and my family- burn victims have a hard time finding jobs…you gonna hire all us burn victims?

20 People!!! That’s not a big sampling for an appropriate study. Seriously, this thread doesn’t hold enough people of an appropriate study in comparison to the amount of iPhone 11 or 12 model owners . Yes, there are people not having issues. One polled all of them. Return it or bite the bullet and go buy something else. Apple will not miss you and they are after all electronic devices. Email Tim Cook. Stop complaining. Trust me, I have had some pretty big Apple issues that I take up with Apple not here. If this is your biggest problem in life your a darn lucky person these days.

There are probably some who do not experience the problems we "complainers" are mentioning. But until you have been to Apple a few times for "resetting", "display adjustments", and diagnostic testing and merely told by them to change your screen brightness or close apps ( you should be able to run apps) and that this is a way to protect your phone (when in fact your have a phone that cannot be used outdoors in sunlight), until you have had a replacement (or two) that continues to behave the same, until you have bought the 12 ($$) and then had to buy a downgrade model ($$) so you can just have a phone that connects to your other Apple devices, until you cannot take pictures, until you cannot read Maps because the screen is too dark, or until you have your phone completely shut down due to overheating..... -- Until you have experienced that, it is understandable that you think some of us are over-reacting.

For completely unrelated reasons;

i haven’t been able to use any of the following features on ANY Apple features;

location services, so obviously any of the features that allows. There’s many. No Books, no apple, no health App features ( that I can really use) no Photos, no Files or Folders App, I have an unmentioned amount of swapped devices, both phone and iPad since 12/2019. I still can’t use any of those features.

im confused is this a technical support forum or a complain about Apple forum because if this is case I can start list all the things I’ve had wrong right here.

The word “overeating” was never used. I used the word complaining. I’m not going to provide links to a dictionary. You figure out the difference between the two words.
