iPhone 12 Pro Overheating

Again, a gender assumption. You have no idea of the Apple issues I’ve had. What kind of exposure any has had to iPhone 12’s ? CLEARLY you live in a world where assumptions are absolutes once a thought pops into your head. Too bad.

The word your searching for is “no”, the way your using it , it’s spelled know. Just saying. Also, I don’t feel the need to have an iPhone measuring battle with you. I’m comfortable with my iPhone size. I have no reason to throw mine on a table to see who’s is bigger. It’s ridiculous to make the statement about who’s had more iPhones or who’s been an Apple customer longer. You have absolutely no ( used correctly) idea who on this forum has been a customer longer. What in the world does that even matter?

The need for speed comes at a very expensive cost and should have all heat factors resolved in r&d ,, there seems to be a wide scale issue with heat and iPhone 12 so I wonder how it passed R&D ??? I was expecting a recall but still to this day there is no recall ???

I think Apple was well aware of the limits of A14 processor and they surely thoroughly tested it before release and hence likely were indeed aware that it was heating up rather easily.

And it seems they decided to release it this way.

What a major screw up really. You gotta know that with the iPhone 12 getting exposed to the heat of summer now, the Apple store will be very busy with people complaining they can’t see their screens.

If you think it is "overheating" outside you will have that same experience with all smart phones.

Likewise, OLEDs are only so bright; if you need super brightness in direct sunlight, get a different model that uses an LCD display like the iPhone SE v2 or iPhone XR.

When I switched to iPhone 12 all my stuff got lost. I still can’t find a lot of my files and yes my old phone was backed up prior to me downloading from one phone to this phone. I’m afraid to do it again as I may lose everything again.

can I put my old SIM card in my old phone again to do another download? If I use a backup from a date prior to using this phone?

You don’t need your SIM card to do a backup (that you would restore from on the new phone.)

Well, said. This thread seems to have a lot of Users posting about this issue but in comparison to the actual number of iPhone 11&12 model users out there ( yes, there’s been posts from iPhone 11 Users on here too) it’s a drop in the bucket. Even if you didn’t remove all the posts that are repeats and ones like mine here, it’s still a drop in the bucket. Enough, if there’s a workaround or question that’s technical in nature then fine. I’d offer links but I think that’s been done previously. Many times. Probably by yourself.

I have the same problem. I’ve had my iPhone 12 Pro for about 3 months now. I don’t run several apps at a time But yet my phone still gets really hot to the touch and my screen goes dim. Even playing small none aggressive games or using a store app. This is the first iPhone I’ve ever had as I just switched from android. And don’t get me wrong I do love this phone. But I’ve never had to deal with overheating issues before. So definitely not a good first impression.

I upgraded from an XR to the iPhone 12 Pro. My new 12 pro gets very hot with only the podcast app running. Playing pre-downloaded episodes. My XR never got this hot. I am wishing I didn’t trade in my old XR because I’m very disappointed with the “upgrade”.

I know I’m late to this but my iPhone 12 Pro Max have been severely overheating these past few weeks and no it’s not cause of me using the charger. I don’t have it plugged in when it overheats. I don’t keep many apps open I just use my phone normally and I’ve gotten this a few times already. Is this normal? I’ve never gotten this on my iPhone 11 Pro Max and I use them both the same.

My phone overheats at random times. And yes it is overheating it should not be painful to hold. And yes mine gets extremely hot and under no load. It’s just random times. And it is abnormal extreme heat and it’s always in the upper left corner. I’ve had this phone for a year and a half and I am not impressed.

This is happening to my brand new iPhone 12. It gets too hot to touch and I have to turn it off. I have hardly any apps, background refresh is turned off, nothing seems to fix it. And internet connection is terrible on it - but my old phone and other peoples phones in the house work fine. What is wrong with it?

I got an iPhone 12 Pro today, and I turned it on and installed some apps. I can't activate it yet (Verizon Shipment Tracking software shows it hasn't arrived yet, so even though I'm holding it they won't activate it.) I set it down on the table and went to dinner. When I came home I picked it up to use it again and it burned my hand. The screen says "Your iPhone needs to cool down before you can use it." I can't turn it off, I can't reboot it. I'm afraid it's going to catch fire.

I agree and understand. I paid $$ for the superior camera, but many times , the screen was too dim to see what I was shooting , plus not being able to read those fast emails or surf quickly. I did the recommended “fixes” and even got a replacement —finally downgraded to the 11Pro.
