Why is my MacBook not communicating with my HP printer after Catalina 10.15.7 update?
Hi,
I can't explain why but following these steps immediately solved my issues and the printer started to print right after I followed this:
Here is the summary for you:
Remove printer drivers
If the issue continues on your Mac after resetting the printing system, take these final steps to remove any currently installed printer drivers. These steps don't apply to AirPrint printers.

It is an HP issue.
Update your software, if necessary remove the printer and add it back it.
>Software update:
HP Printer Software 5.1 should now be becoming available through Software Update to fix this issue.

If you have continued issue:
ftp://ftp.hp.com/pub/softlib/software12/HP_Quick_Start/osx/Installations/Essentials/hp-printer-essentials-S-5_14_8_4.pkg
download link above at the ftp address. Installed that, then remove printer and reinstall
If it is listed as AirPrint printer, delete the existing printer in
> System Preferences> Printers & Scanners, and add it again, select AirPrint.

I haven't been able to print - using my HP Deskjet 1510 printer for the past weeks ..... due to the current driver, etc, problems.
AFTER FOLLOWING SIMPLE INSTRUCTIONS FROM THIS BLOG SPOT LINK - ENSENSO - MY PRINTER NOW PRINTS & SCANS PERFECTLY AGAIN. I hope that this link brings success for you as well .........
It's a problem with HP printer driver certification - see:

There are many other threads on the same topic on the first page here.

It seems I'm a step closer. Thank you so much!
Now it says, "printing, waiting for printer to become available" but is not printing.
HP Printer Software 5.1 solved it for me. Thank you very much!
THANK YOU!!!!! That helped and seems to be working now. Wish I would've come here first instead of wasting so many hours with HP
Pleased that I have contributed to getting your printer up & running again Arlene !
Yep...that did it!!!!!! Thank you! Thank you g64!! I was about to toss my 1510 until I removed all drivers. Working fine now.
