How to set preferred default number in a contact with multiple numbers (in iOS 14). I could do it before I updated now after updating to iOS 14

I was able to make a preferred default number in a contact with multiple numbers listed, however ever since updating to iOS 15 I literally cannot find any way to do it anymore. I can change the order they’re listed but I don’t believe the first at the top automatically makes it the preferred because it never shows the little “preferred” label above the number like they normally would before. I’m just very frustrated as I make a lot of phone calls and send a lot of texts during my incredibly hectic and fast-paced work days and it honestly would just be so much more convenient for me to go back to the old system and have a default number for each contact.

any help would be very much appreciated!

and thanks for taking your time to try to help,

Hello sgrace022409,

We'd like to help with the issue you're experiencing with your contacts. We understand you'd like to set a preferred number for some of your contacts. This currently is not possible, but you can let Apple know that you'd like this feature to be available in the future:

A workaround that might be helpful would be to use the Shortcuts app for frequently used contacts:

Cheers!
