Precise volume control on iOS

The option to use your finger to control volume of audio pixel precise versus rough button increments via Airplay to speakers or headphones with your finger is frustrating to use as it changes to hair thin version too fast from (barely finger size) wider version.

I would prefer it stay up as wider version much longer, and even all on its own, after initial appearance when pressing buttons on side.

How can I set this to happen?
