ok so i have news bout this problem,i follow the steps you gave me,deleted those files, installed again itunes and it all works ,if i do restart computer or next time i use it,the ipod isnt recognozable again?what is hppenning?please someone..
Me too. And are any of you seeing this: my ipod touch is opening iPhoto (not Itunes). I stopped this because I disabled the automatic launching of iphoto when a "camera" is connected. It thinks my Ipod Touch is a camera!
I'm having the same problem with my iPod Touch being recognized as an iPod camera (there is no camera on it). It is being recognized neither by iTunes no Windows although it does make that horrible chime when it first connects. I have re-installed the latest version of iTunes and reset and restarted the iTouch to no avail...
I'm having the same problem--iTunes won't recognize my iPod touch until I've uninstalled and reinstalled iTunes, which is a bit labour intensive every time you want to add a new song. I bought my iPod Touch at the same time as buying a MacBook Pro, and this is the computer that won't recognize the iPod Touch. On my old computer (a PowerBook G4), it recognizes the iPod Touch just fine. So is it the computer? Or the new version of iTunes? Incredibly frustrating...
I had exactly the same problems and I did a software update which appears to have resolved the problem. Not an itunes update, but full computer software update through the apple menu
I also had the same problem. I did a full Software Update from the System Preferences window. That downloaded a full gigabyt OS update. The problem is now solved!!!
The latest unsolicited itunes update did the trick for me. It now works. itunes 10.01.
btw I am scared to do a ful system update. I had a devil of a time when i used the system 10.6.4 updater on my imac (I use macbook pro at the moment). Suddenly mail wasn't compatible with the new 10.6.4 and i could not downlaod the new mail on its own.
Same Problem. It's fixed.
The most recent software update has "iPhone SDK' update. the details of the update say that it resolves a problem with the computer recognizing iphones and ipods.
So, it's not our fault.
hum... Hi!
Did the latest updates fixed the problem for all? Because it's all up to date here with Itune 10.0.1 and no more software update.... it worked last week after reinstalling Itune, but now, same problem is back! It ia REALLY frustrating. I plug my Ipod it charges, but nothing happens in Itune. My Husband's PC sees it though. So unfair ;o)
Having the same show stopper issue after trying to connect my Touch to my husbands iMac. Reset the touch completely (so now nothing is on it and it's completely useless) and iPhoto sees it just fine, (even though I don't sync photos to this device) but iTunes does not. Yet iTunes sees and syncs with my old old iPod just fine using the same USB cable and port.
