Backing up iPhone

So....I "need a software update to connect my iPhone to my computer."

I am running a Classic Mac Pro and it is not supported on Big Sur, plus all my software breaks when moving to Catalina. Currently running Mojave.

Any ideas on how to back up my phone?

Mac Pro, macOS 10.14

There may be other options but since you didn't mention it or rule it out, iCloud Backup is an option. I have a computer that is compatible to do a backup but I only use iCloud. See: How to back up your iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

FoxFifth,

Thanks!

Good point. I do use iCloud for some backup, but haven't yet been willing to pay for the size of backup I would need. Their new Apple1 deal may change my mind.

My phone has more than 150 GB of stuff (lots of photos) so I've been doing all the backups locally. Haven't worried about it for too long, but thinking about updating the phone and need to back it up first.

I might temporarily upgrade the iCloud backup long enough to do the update and then bring the cost back down again.

My main machine is a Classic Mac Pro that is still a workhorse (Amazing, actually for a ten year old machine. This has to be one of the all time greats that Apple ever built.), but requires increasing attention to keep it going as Apple moves forward with newer and more incompatible hardware.

Appreciate the thoughtful reply.
