You don't. You will not be able to remove the Activation Lock which is set by the previous owner's Apple ID and Password. You will need the previous owner's credentials to remove that Activation Lock. There is no other way. That iPhone, at this point, is useless to you.

I know that article you listed, It Still states that if the iPhone has an activation lock then help from previous owner is needed if the iPhone was purchased with an Activation Lock.
