iPhone 12 Pro speaker audio issues

I have had some unusual audio issues. Saturday morning 10/24/20, not even 24 hours of owning the phone, the speakers had reverb, static, pops and random buzzing. I did a screen recording and posted on YouTube. However the sound was mot syncing with the video. Perhaps a software issue but the sound does not seem as good as it was on my 11 Pro. I upgraded to give my mom my 11 Pro so if I return I’m phoneless during any repair or send off diagnostic. Very disappointed to say the least.

Any thoughts are welcome.

I posted earlier and since then have restarted my phone, hard reset, tried a few different settings. I have owned an iPhone4, 7 and now a 12, I hang onto these things. I use my speaker phone for business regularly, all day. There is something very different about the sound quality on this 12 than my 7. Voices are nowhere near as crisp and I feel as though they’re flat and muffled now. I have ATT however have had them since my 7. Nothing in my environment has changed other than the phone. Also, my alarm clock audio turned on for 1 second today and then turned off. Even when I attempt to change my alarm “song” it won’t play for more than a second. Something is off about this phone or iOS update. Don’t get my wrong, I love iPhone but... I missed out on that new phone excitement feeling this time.

I’ve had a similar issue. My phone is only 2 days old. This morning my alarm went off and it was staticky. I was concerned so I tried playing music in iTunes and it was the same. It would be staticky and choppy. Then after 10s it would pause the song. I turned my phone off and on. That seemed to fix the problem. But talk about giving me a heart attack! I really hope Apple fixes this issue.

I have been contacted by Apple regarding this issues. I am now collection analytics for them on my iPhone 12 Pro. I would suggest that any one having similar issues to reach out to Apple. The more it is documented the quicker to finding a solution for us all.

So far, I am only collecting data and will report it to Apple soon. Hopefully they will see something that can be addressed either by software or by hardware repair.

I have the crackle/static/distortion problem in my bottom speaker whenever anything plays. I've talked to apple on the phone, completed every troubleshooting method, and even installed new iOs. Problem is still just as bad as ever. Even a ringtone makes it distort horribly.

Finally, I decided to replace the phone entirely. I am convinced it has to be a hardware problem. It is almost as if I can hear/feel something rattle. My new phone arrives today and I will update if it has same problem or not.

Most ridiculous thing is they actually made me pay $30 for an express replacement. For a defective phone. Unbelievable.

I'ma having exactly the same issue here on my 128go Iphone 12, the clics and lock sounds have volume variations.

I contacted the assistance, and they made me restart and restore my Iphone. Sometimes it reappears...

I also had another issue, the black screen took 1 second to shut down when I locked, so I restore my setting only, and it worked.

Seems to be the issue when you "clone" your old Iphone into the new one.

Having the same issue with my wife's iPhone 12 Pro. Speaker is static and low. Earpiece sound is also filed with static and is muffled. Tried restoring from factory reset. Didn't fix. Also updated the iOS to latest. Still didn't fix.

Not sure if it matters but the phone went into restore mode about two weeks ago and the problem has been consistent since then.

Talked to Apple Support and they suggested a hardware issue...but no appointments until end of next week

I have the iPhone 12 (PRODUCT), and the the only thing happening to my speakers is a buzzing quality when I tap the mic icon to dictate. The “mic on/off” audio prompt sound is very distorted, as if it’s too loud. I lowered the volume just before muting and the sound quality is still the same. Other audio output is fine.

That happened to me this morning too. Alarm was going off but with no sound. Luckily I woke up on my own and saw the phone lit up. When I tried to fix it in the alarm settings, it would start playing the alarm for two seconds and then get stuck looping until I did a hard restart. I get up early for work so I need my alarm to function. VERY annoying problem for a phone that is so expensive....

It is certainly an issues, however. It seems that some are software based (such as mine) and others are hardware. A caveat...

I did buy an iPhone 12 Mini and have had zero issues, yet the basic issues on my iPhone 12 Pro I cannot replicate. I am still collecting data for Apple. I have a phone meeting this Thursday November the 19th. I would keep documenting your particular case. Reaching out to Apple will help us all to resolve any issues whether hardware or software or some combination therein.
