Tap "Settings>General>Reset>Reset all network settings" then turn off your iPhone then back on. As long as you're in a network coverage area (check with your carrier) and are not suspended for non-payment from your carrier then your iPhone should be picking up signal from the local tower. You may also want to check with your carrier to find out if there was any interruptions in service in the area.

Same here mate but my iphone is 3 day old, and don't hold your breath of a refund either as promissed by stev jobs, I requested one and level 2 support said they only offer it to apple store bought phones not carrier sold devices. I really don't remember the hidden conditions in his statement. Not worth the words out of his mouth. NOT HAPPY

No idea how/why this did the trick, but after doing the RESET NETWORK SETTINGS and letting the phone reboot, I put mine (which was showing NO SERVICE, despite numerous previous reboots and SIM changes) into AIRPLANE MODE. Waited a good five Mississippi or so. Then took it out of airplane mode.

Had full bars within 10 seconds.
