Anyone else having trouble with sleep wake function with an iPad Air 4 cover?

I’m just curious if anybody else had a problem with their new iPad Air 4. I am currently using a 3rd party cover (2nd one I got and still didn’t work) and it’s supposed to be specifically for the iPad Air 4 and has a sleep wake function. I tested it by sliding the cover to another-iPad pro 2, it worked but not on my iPad Air 4 - it stayed on. I have searched for the topic on other iPads and followed the suggestions. For example, I turned off the “lock unlock,” turned off my iPad for a few minutes and then turned back on and turned the “lock unlock “ on, and it still didn’t work. I already reached out to support but I ended up ordering a cover (will arrive in 2 days)from Apple store and see if that will fix it. If not, it may be a hardware problem.

Update: So, I received the OtterBox cover from Apple today specifically for the IPad Air 4 and the sleep wake function worked. It was a compatibility problem, what a relief because I was worried it was the hardware. I will be returning the 2 covers I bought from Amazon. Maybe I’ll wait a few more months for more choices in covers that will be really be compatible to IPad Air 4.

I finally figured it out. Apple has two switches on the iPad here fourth generation. One switch is on the bottom left hand side about an inch from the corner. If you put a piece of magnetic tape on the case in that corner the magnet at the top will work when you open and close. I guess this was Apple‘s way of making us purchase their case. Also, for what it’s worth once you put that magnet tape on the bottom right hand corner you then will get the lock and unlock switch.
