how to reduce background noise when using wired headphones with microphone on phone calls iphone se 2020

I just purchased a new iphone se 2020. I am using the lighting adapter to connect my Jabra wired headphones (with a microphone right my mouth - call center style). I am being told that all the backgound sound is very audible to others to whom I am speaking. This was not a problem with my old phone which had an actual headphone jack. What can I do to get back to not having background noise uadible on my calls?

iPhone SE, iOS 13

Hi 1stacy,

Thanks for posting to Apple Support Communities. We understand that you have been having some issues with background noise when you make calls using your iPhone SE and wired headphones.

Does this happen when you make a call without headphones? Do you have another set of headphones to try and if so, what happens? Does this happen on all calls with all contacts?

Restart your iPhone, then make another test call. Does the same issue occur?

Thanks!
