need help in identifying my iPods
I have two iPod classics. Both claim to be model 1238. one is noticeably thicker with a black matte finish and the other is thinner with a matte gray appearance.
What is the difference?

The A1238 model number refers to a variety of iPods [Classics] released at different times and which would be of different colors and dimensions.

The one ending in YMZ would be the 2007 version according to the support document I linked to
While the one ending in 9ZU is the 2009. Version confirmed by entering the serial number here: https://checkcoverage.apple.com

Hi Phil, I had seen the article but am still having difficulty. Unit one has a SN ending in NYZU while the other ends in ZYMX. Does that help?
