You now have multiple issues. Firstly, you have created an Activation Lock - and secondly, erasing the iPad has removed installed Apps that now cannot be replaced.

Activation Lock

Here are the Apple support pages that outline the Activation Lock - and the only mechanisms by which it can be turned off:

Activation Lock for iPhone, iPad, and iPod touch - Apple Support

Turn off Activation Lock – Apple Support

As you will discover, unless you are the owner of the AppleID that was last used to activate the device, or unless you can secure the cooperation of the previous owner, you’ll not be able to defeat or bypass the Activation Lock. Without documentary evidence that you are the original owner (such as sales receipt showing the serial number), Apple won’t assist - and nobody here will be able to help you.

If you are the owner of the AppleID that previously activated the device - and you have forgotten your AppleID or associated password, these can be recovered here:

https://iforgot.apple.com

To recover your credentials, you’ll need access to one of the following:

  • Your primary email address mailbox that corresponds with your AppleID
  • Any of the secondary/recovery email addresses that should be configured for your AppleID account
  • Any of the trusted telephone numbers (fixed line or Cellular/Mobile) that are associated with your AppleID

Unless you AppleID account has not been fully/correctly configured, or has been seriously neglected, recovery of the AppleID and password should not be difficult.

When you recover access to your credentials, you would be well advised to log-in to your AppleID account from a web browser - and verify/update any email addresses and trusted telephone numbers:

iPad2

You need to be aware that a very old first generation iPad2 can only be updated to iOS 9.3.5 (WiFi Only models) or iOS 9.3.6 (WiFi & Cellular models).

Apple ended update support for iPad2 in September 2016. Your iPad cannot be updated to iOS 10 or later major versions of iOS as the internal hardware does not meet the minimum technical requirements for new versions of iOS/iPadOS. This limitation cannot be bypassed - in addition to which, iPad2 is a 32-bit architecture device, whilst all recent versions of iOS/iPadOS are designed for 64-bit hardware platforms. iPad2 is effectively obsolete.

Compatible Apps for your iPad are increasingly difficult to find. Third-party developers are increasingly dropping support for older versions of iOS preceding iOS11/12/13 - and, additionally, all 32-bit Apps have long ago been withdrawn from the Apple App Store.

As older versions of Apps are removed from the Apple App Store, you’ll not be able to (re)download or install them - which may severely limit the usefulness and utility of your iPad if you should you ever, as now, reset or restore your iPad. As such, if you want or need to access most current Apps, requiring more recent versions of iOS, you’ll need to consider replacement of your iPad with a newer or current model.

Of current models, even the entry-level iPad8 has specifications and capabilities that will massively outperform you current iPad - and is compatible with the vast majority of current Apps. Other models are more powerful still.

Preparation for a new User

For future reference, if preparing an iPad for transfer to - and use by - a new user, this is the process to properly erase and prepare the iPad; the process also ensures that the Activation Lock is properly deactivated:

I hope this information provides helpful and succinct clarity as to your available options - and the limitations of your current iPad.

This will not be at all possible now as old 8 and 9-year old iPad models, like the iPad 2 are no longer being supported, at all.

You will not have any access to any third party apps from the iOS App Store as virtually all apps have moved on to iOS 11 or 12 or later iOS versions that a very old iPad 2 will not support.

The old version of the Safari Web browser that comes with iOS 9 is, also, too old and not secure and should not be trusted for any online use.

Time for a new or much newer, used iPad model, like the newest iPad models or older 5th, 6th or 7th generation or older iPad Air 2 or 3 models.

An iPad 2 is simply and bluntly too old an iPad model,,now.

No longer any support from Apple and no app support, either.

Sorry & Best of Luck to You!
