What can I do to work with an iMac and a MacBook Pro in the same time?

I was wondering what possibility I have with an iMac and a MacBook Pro. Can I merge the desktop? Can I juste screenshare the screen? Etc.

What are the best options?

Thanks!

MacBook Pro 13″, macOS 10.15

Thanks for the answer! I'm trying to just work with them two. Now, I've only my MacBook Pro 2019 connected with a computer screen.

I'll soon have a mid-2013 iMac to work better for school. I was wondering if I can do the same thing, but using the iMac Power, not the MacBook's one.

En bref, I'll try to connect my iMac to my Macbook to use the same desktop. Is it possible?

You can use the Imac as an external display, not the other way around.

Target display mode requires macOS High Sierra or earlier on the iMac used as the external display.

What exactly are you trying to accomplish?

Depending on the exact models of MacBook and iMac you may be able to use the iMac's screen as a mirrored or extended display for the MacBook Pro. See here: Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

Or you can access the iMac's hard drive from the MacBook Pro: Use target disk mode to move files to another computer - Apple Support

Using the iMac as a display does not mean it will use the iMac's CPU, RAM or other hardware inside it. You will just be displaying the MacBook Pro's desktop on the iMac's screen. It will still be using the MacBooks hardware at that time. All apps and process will be running on the MacBook Pro, but you'll see them on the iMac's screen.

Basically the iMac is just acting as a monitor for the MacBook Pro, it is not using its own CPU or ram for anything.
