Why do I have to scroll down to read the most recent text message?

How do I fix this problem for my husband’s iPhone 7

When he receives a text, he opens the text and has to scroll down to see the newest text. The app opens the text message in the middle of older text message conversation. I hope that makes sense.

This started with the update to iOS 14. It happens with every text message regardless of the type of phone sending the text message. It also happens with group text messages.

The only time this doesn’t happen is, say he’s texting his brother back and forth and the message with the brother is open. The texts are in real time. But if husband backs out of that text to the main text screen and receives a new text from his brother, that text will be in the middle of some other text. This makes him have to scroll down to see the newest text message.

Has anyone had this problem?

I hope that maybe there’s a setting that I can click and tada it’s fixed.
