Apple Watch won’t install apps from Companion app on iPhone.

Anybody else go to their companion app and tap install from the “available apps” section, but it never works? Here’s what happens:

I download an app to my phone,

go to the app and that specific section ,

tap install,

the title of the section will blink,

the app will BEGIN to download,

second or two later, it stops.

It does this for all apps downloaded from my phone. I have an iPhone 7 Plus, not sure if that’s the issue, but I don’t have an App Store in my companion app like the one pictured in the article about downloading apps and one of the Tips for Apple Watch. Even then, if everything else on the watch works don’t ya think that should to? It’s not the biggest issue in the world but it’s just a lil frustrating to have to download my apps twice. So please help me!

Thanks!

Hi there ImNotaPro!

It sounds like you are having trouble downloading apps for your Apple Watch through the Watch app. We'd be glad to give you some pointers.

Let's start by having you restart both your iPhone and Apple Watch. You can find steps on how to properly restart both devices by looking here:

How to restart Apple Watch

Restart your iPhone

Are both devices connected to the internet? Check by trying to use apps that require an internet connection on each device.

If they aren't connected to the internet, troubleshoot the connection using these steps:

About Bluetooth, Wi-Fi, and cellular on your Apple Watch

Since the App Store uses the day and time to determine when to contact the server, is your date and time set to automatic?

To check, go to Settings > General > Date & Time on both devices.

Are you able to download apps through the App Store on the Apple Watch? If so, this would be a great work around for this issue.

Using my watch’s App Store was a good work around once I restarted my watch. As for my phone though, no apps will download to the watch from my phone. Even the apps I have downloaded onto my phone and say “install” in the companion app won’t download. I’ll hit install, it’ll try to download, then quit. But hey, at least I can get apps on my watch now! Thank very much!
