8GB memory warnings on new MacBook Pro 2020

I use 8gb Ram on my new macbook pro and i keep getting memory low warnings when i am using safari with just 2 tabs running, is it worth getting 8gb ram more? Is this the norm? Never had this on my lower spec 2009 MacBook pro.TIA.

Can anyone help? please, TIA.

This is one of the most annoying and useless dropdown warning Apple has come up with.

The real crime is you have to manually dismiss the warning or it is forever have it in your view scape. It has no practical value.

Of course if you are using a 'memory intensive' website in your browser you would expect to use your given memory—duh, what is the point(?). Adding 16 GB of RAM is not going to make this warning to go away.

I have submitted for— at the least—a user preferences to turn off this default behavior; and still it persist.

This is an example of poor UX with the Safari UI.

Your options:

—manually dismiss it

—Quit Safari and relaunch it

—use a different browser that does not have this un wanted intrusion

CleanMyMac is misleading you. Several macOS versions back, Apple significantly improved the way the OS manages memory. The old way of judging RAM usage by free vs. wired is no longer relevant. For the past few years, the OS uses nearly all the RAM, because if it’s not being used then it’s useless. If an app needs more RAM, macOS frees it up from something else that isn’t using it as actively.

The way to judge memory usage today is by memory pressure and swaps. If those are low, you’re fine even if you have no free RAM. So if the ‘low memory warning’ you mention is only from CleanMyMac, ignore it (or better yet, uninstall the program). I had thought it was MacOS warning you of low memory, but I think that’s not the case because your system is performing as designed.
