I can’t find my older backups

A text thread was recently deleted from my phone (I have no clue how) and I’m trying to get it back as I have many photos that I have not saved. My phone gets backed up regularly but I’m only seeing two backs up which were several days apart and I need a backup that’s about a week old. Is there anything I can do.? Also, I’m attempting to use a backup from my iPhone 11on my old iPhone 7 that I only use when I’m home in WiFi.

iPhone 7, iOS 14

If you back up with iCloud, iCloud saves the last two backups for each iOS device. When you backup again, the oldest backup will be removed. The cycle goes on and on. If you are looking for a backup from the same device and you see two backups a few days apart, you cannot go back further than that to retrieve an older backup. It is gone now.

  1. Update 7 to same iOS as on 11, then you can restore it no problem to 7 and sync them through iCloud.
  2. iTunes/iCloud are not made to keep incremental backups. If you back up daily, no chance to get that backup.

p.s. If you have an iTunes backup, check it with iMazing, maybe PDF will be enough for you (guide, check with trial first). Also I would recommend using it for backups as it has incremental backups, so no similar troubles in future.
