I'm trying to download macOS Sierra

Im trying to download this OS for my Macbook Pro 7,1 and the link to download doesn't work. Is there another link that I can use? I have to have this since no other OS will work on my Laptop.

Thank You

MacBook Pro 13″, OS X 10.10

The link should work you need to open your Safari browser, Firefox will not work.

How to upgrade to macOS Sierra - Apple Support

Go to Section 4 and click on Get macOS Sierra

this will download the InstallOS.dmg which you then open to

InstallOS.pkg which in turn you open to an installation window,

this does not install macOS Sierra but creates the Install macOS Sierra.app

in your Applications folder, use that to install Sierra.

If your mac can upgrade to Sierra it can upgrade to macOS High Sierra.

Again use your Safari browser and click on the link below.

How to upgrade to macOS High Sierra - Apple Support

Go to Section 4 and click on Get macOS High Sierra

this will connect you to the App Store High Sierra download page

it should say Get or Download.

Before upgrading make a full back up of your Mac.

Check that third party apps you use have updates available for the new OS.

https://roaringapps.com

Check that your printers/ scanners etc have updated drivers and software available for the new OS.

Connect your mac to your router via cable rather than rely on WiFi.

Do not use your mac while it is downloading

and do not use any other devices that share the same internet connection.

If the App Store says ‘Open’ then it is detecting a previous download of the install app

go to the Applications folder locate Install macOS High Sierra.app.

Move it to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Restart, click on the link again, the App Store should say ‘Get' or 'Download'.

If you're running Yosemite 10.10 (as indicated in your profile) and since you're having an issue going straight to 10.12 Sierra, I would install 10.11 El Capitan first if deleting the current Install macOS High Sierra app from Applications doesn't help.

Download the installer from step #4 here: https://support.apple.com/en-us/HT206886

Double-click the DMG disk image file to open it, open the Package inside and run it, and then go to Applications and run the Install OS X El Capitan app it will have created there.

Once your on 10.11 El Capitan, try again with the 10.12 Sierra.

Okay I clicked both Sierra and High Sierra and when i look into my application folder they are there. When i click to install either one, it comes up with this:

This copy of the Install macOS Sierra application is damaged, and can‘t be used to install macOS.

If you see Open in the App Store it has detected that you have a copy of the Install macOS High Sierra.app

in your Applications folder. Locate it, move it to the Trash, empty the Trash.

Connect your mac to your router via cable. Restart your mac go back to the App Store

High Sierra download page it will now say Get or Download.

Do not use the mac or any other devices that share the same

internet connection while it is downloading.

The last paragraph in my first reply mentions this.
