Poor Phone Reception on Iphone 12 Pro

I have just switched to an Iphone 12 Pro. I now have very poor reception and am unable to make calls from the same spots within our house, that I could with our previous phone (Android). I would be able to make calls from anywhere within our house and have good reception (3 to 4 bars). Since switching to the Iphone 12 Pro....I'm lucky to get 2 bars (with 1 bar being the normal). I now need to walk outside everytime I need to make a call. Just wanted to see if others are experiencing similar issues?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

I’ve been experiencing the same thing since it came out as well. I have Att. Definitely a software thing. I have a work phone with the same carrier and I don’t get any issues on that phone which is an iPhone 11, but my 12 pro is terrible.

I have had issues with my iPhone 12 Pro Max from day one and blamed the call dropouts on the 3 Network i was on. They sent me a new sim card which made no difference. I could be speaking to someone and be stationary say at my desk and for no reason the other person cannot hear me but i can hear every word they say crisp as anything. I move into another room and sometimes that helps although the call is on wifi so should of helped anyway. Sometimes calls received go straight to voicemail so i miss them totally as the phone doesn't even ring. The callers are not blocked. I changed to EE and experienced exactly the same issues from inserting a brand new sim so i know its the phone and not the network provider. We have 2 iPhone X in our family as well and they experience no issues what so ever. Spoke with Apple today and they agreed to send me a replacement phone but i had to lay out £1199 before they would post it out. Yes i know they charge this as a guarantee to get the phone back but having applecare plus as well you would think they would send another one out next day courier and collect the defective one at the same time but no. What really annoys me is that we are the guinea pigs for these big companies who cant get their products right before selling them to us. Come on Apple we are paying good hard earned money for crap products!!!

So what is the fix and is it just on the 1st batch of phones released or does it apply to all iPhone 12 models with 5G?

Too many others are experiencing issues so be honest ....... (as if)

Same problem here.

iPhone 12 Pro Max bought as a gift for my birthday, it drops out during calls (as in the call still connected, yet the person you’re speaking with drops out for 10-20 seconds) and I am unable to get service greater than 3g.

I have called Apple Support and also had the phone tested at a Genius Bar appointment, I was told it could be my service provider. Since, I met with service provider, 5g is active on my account, they also replaced the SIM to be completely sure and they have no issues on their end.

I am currently Hot Spotting from my daughters phone (she has my previous iPhone 11 Pro Max) and I have no signal issues whatsoever. Internet, socials, email etc work perfectly.

APPLE, please fix this immediately and admit the issue. The Apple stores must be inundated with Genius Bar appointments about this.

On a side note, I also asked for a screen performance test to be done and it reported no issues. However, continually, if I need to close a window via tapping on the top left corner of the screen, it is unresponsive. Often requiring me to force close the App or window I am using.

See photo of me currently Hot Spotting to use my phone.

Switched to 12 pro from XS. Noticeably worse reception. But this might also be because I now use dual SIM. I also have a suspicion that it is the Apple magsafe case. Either way, worse reception and also network stability seems to be worse. Hoping for an update and that it’s a software not a hardware bug.

I have this same issue. I have between 1-2 bars of service but people have been saying to me, "I can't hear you" repeatedly since I switched my phone and service last week. I am in Philadelphia and had an iPhone XR on Xfinity service (uses Verizon towers) and never had any connectivity issues in my house, or anywhere in the city for that matter. Since switching, I am consistently having issues with phone calls within my house. I don't know if it's the iPhone 12 Pro or if it's AT&T, but I suspect it's the iPhone 12 Pro.

I hope to goodness there is a fix for this. I'm not happy.

Same here with iPhone 12 Pro on iOS 14.2, dual sim, with EE in London. The second sim is connected to Vodafone, has slightly better signal.

But my main issue is that I had no connectivity issues with my iPhone XR with the same setup. While on the new phone I get maximum one bar if anything at all (max two for the second sim). Not even when moving around, just sitting at home. 😩

iOS 14.2 fixed the problem that I couldn’t charge the phone wirelessly. But this connectivity problem remains. Seriously, how many bugs are we supposed to endure when changing to a new model?! These are not minor issues

Hi. Hope this helps. The reception in my home is also poor so I use internet phone setting - phone - on. Then, instead of using 4g, change to 3g settings - mobile data - mobile data options - voice and data - switch from 4g to 3g. I don't know why it works better - but it did for me. Hope that helps, thanks

It is the 12 pro Apple, I was right next to a 8 and he had vzw coverage, my phone was no reception for almost 20 miles when I left AT&T Stadium in Arlington. It happens all over and people constantly say they cannot hear me it is breaking up.

From experience I’ve found the normal iPhones have better signal reception than the pro models yet the phones are practically identical apart from the camera setup AND the steel edge! My thinking is the steel edge prevents some signal getting to the antennas whereas with the aluminium sides the signal passes through......obviously this is my opinion and I don’t actually know it just seems from trying a few pro models and keep sending the back to having an iPhone 11 (current phone) the normal iPhone has no signal problems which is a shame as I really want that iPhone 12 Pro Max due the amazing screen size but I don’t want to have to go through the rigmarole of sending units back again due to naff signal, shame they don’t do a 12 Max non pro version with a 6.7” screen and the aluminium band as I’d of bought that in a heartbeat

I have the “NON-Pro” iPhone 12 and the signal reception is horrible compared to my old iPhone 8. I don’t think the issue is the pro (stainless case) compared to the non-pro (aluminum case) since they both have horrible reception. I’d like to go to the return this phone and get the 11 model.

I feel for you I really do, I had 3 iPhone 11 Pro Max phones and returned them all I then had I Huawei P30 Pro for a few months but really missed IPhone so I decided to try the non Pro 11 and the signal was fine and not far off as good as the Huawei which is how I came to the assumption maybe the steel band blocked some signal whereas aluminium doesn’t block, I’d def recommend the non Pro 11 but have no confidence in the pro models unless someone actually shows me their handset on the same

network as me and actually have a decent signal

I have been told by my carrier that they need to have different settings for the Iphones. I don't know the technical reasons behind why, but after speaking with them they changed something on their system for my account, and I have begun to get slightly better reception...still not as good as my previous phones. So I believe based on what has been noted here, that the Iphones (Pros in particular) don't appear to have as strong an antenna as other phones. I have tried what others have said about changing from Auto or 5G to 4G in my settings. None of that has helped. I have gone to many different spots in our house and used the iphone 12 pro, and then in the same location, I have taken the sim out and put it in my old Samsung Galaxy phone and used it in exactly the same way. The reception and signal was always better on the Galaxy. I'm not trying to get into an Android vs IOS argument. I'm just frustrated that I can't get as good a signal on my 12 Pro compared to my other phone.
