Poor Phone Reception on Iphone 12 Pro

I have just switched to an Iphone 12 Pro. I now have very poor reception and am unable to make calls from the same spots within our house, that I could with our previous phone (Android). I would be able to make calls from anywhere within our house and have good reception (3 to 4 bars). Since switching to the Iphone 12 Pro....I'm lucky to get 2 bars (with 1 bar being the normal). I now need to walk outside everytime I need to make a call. Just wanted to see if others are experiencing similar issues?

iPhone 12 Pro, iOS 14

I have had issues with my iPhone 12 Pro Max from day one and blamed the call dropouts on the 3 Network i was on. They sent me a new sim card which made no difference. I could be speaking to someone and be stationary say at my desk and for no reason the other person cannot hear me but i can hear every word they say crisp as anything. I move into another room and sometimes that helps although the call is on wifi so should of helped anyway. Sometimes calls received go straight to voicemail so i miss them totally as the phone doesn't even ring. The callers are not blocked. I changed to EE and experienced exactly the same issues from inserting a brand new sim so i know its the phone and not the network provider. We have 2 iPhone X in our family as well and they experience no issues what so ever. Spoke with Apple today and they agreed to send me a replacement phone but i had to lay out £1199 before they would post it out. Yes i know they charge this as a guarantee to get the phone back but having applecare plus as well you would think they would send another one out next day courier and collect the defective one at the same time but no. What really annoys me is that we are the guinea pigs for these big companies who cant get their products right before selling them to us.

Hey there and thanks so much for contacting the Apple Support Community, I'd be more than happy to help you out today!

I can tell you that I have gone through the same thing recently, and I solved it by calling my mobile data carrier. They were able to send me an internet speed test through my texts and we were able to determine if there were any outages in my area. I suggest that you try that!

I hope this works! Have a wonderful day.

I am experiencing the same issue as well just purchased the iPhone 12 pro max Almost 5 days ago I’m in over the road truck driver I run my iPad with cellular as well six generation Which usually gets the same phone reception is my iPhone XS would beforehand My iPad will get perfect cell phone reception in areas where I would use to get cell phone reception in with My xs And now with the promax I have zero reception For some reason sometimes when I turn the phone off and turn it back on it I’ll pick up the towers.

I have a few simple questions.... You are with the same carrier on one phone and get adequate reception (3 bars out of 4) . So you now take that sim out of this phone and put use that on an Iphone 12 Pro. You then stand in place the 12 Pro in the same place as the older phone. Why is it then at no point does the 12 Pro get more than 1 bar (out of 4)? If it is the carrier's signal, why do they need to adjust it for the 12 Pro? Others replying to this thread are stating a drop in quality of reception when they went from an 11 Pro to a 12 Pro.

I went from an 8+ to the twelve. Now I can’t get any upload on my data. It’s like the antenna can receive the signal fine but can’t send it back. My uploads with 2 bars have been typically .05mbps or less. Can do a side by side speed test with my wife’s 8+ her uploads are around 5, mine are still dial up speed. If I go somewhere with full service it’s fine but at home where it gets used the most is now unusable. Just ordered a Samsung and will be returning the 12

I'm having the same issue. We have Verizon as our service provider and just upgraded from an IPhone 8 Plus to an IPhone 12 PRO Max. The antenna on the 12 is awful, I used to get 3-4 bars on my 8 Plus at our office and home. Now with the brand new 12 PRO, I barely get 1-2 bars in the same exact spots. The reception is garbage and it keeps dropping calls. I'm really contemplating on if I should return it and go back to my 8 Plus.

I am experiencing the same thing on my iPhone 12 Mini in Hong Kong. The same sim card gets 4 bars in my Samsung Android phone, but on the iPhone, it starts out at 4 and gradually loses bars until it is 1-2 bars. However if I enable and disable Airplane mode / restart the phone / remove and reinsert the sim I get four bars, and then it gradually decreases to 1-2. Yesterday while outside it completely lost reception. Is anybody also experiencing this on the iPhone 12 Mini or non-pro version?

I hope it's just a software issue and Apple is able to put out a patched iOS asap!

I have recently changed from an iPhone SE 1st gen. to an iPhone 12 mini. Very bad reception. In places where a had 3-4 bars, now I constantly have 1 bar (not even 2 bars). This is with the same carrier and sim, and it’s not a carrier’s issue for sure. As a result the battery is not good either. We upgrade for better overall experience...

Experiencing this same issue with new iPhone 12 Pro Max out of the box. Where I live has poor service but with my 3 other devices which include iPhone XS Max, iPhone XR, and iPad mini 4 all receive 1-2 bars indoors on Verizon network. My new 12 Pro Max has ZERO bars and no service throughout my house. Even driving around town I can compare the 12 pro Max with the iPad and XR and the 12 Pro Max consistently has 2 bars less signal strength than its older devices. What good is a brand new $1000+ phone that can’t even get service. I have tried changing cellular settings, resetting the phone and even getting a new SIM card from Verizon without any luck. I think this phone has to be returned unless there is a software update that can fix a bug.

Yup same issue here. Exactly the same. I've been chatting with the apple tech support and all they want to do is take screen shots of my phone. The last rep has no clue that so many people are having issues with the reception. I'm like are you serious? Just google it.

Verizon won't do anything about it either. I had the iphone x and that worked better than this iphone 12 pro piece of ****. I wish i would of just kept the x instead.

Hello, I just purchase 2 Iphone 12 pro max 256gb on Dec 3. I am having the same issue. I took it into the Jump Plus store and they basically did nothing. I tried switching service providers from Fido to Telus and then back to Fido but still the same issue. Here is what I did to resolve the issue,

Open settings

Select "Cellular"

Turn off "Cellular Data"

Select Cellular Data Options"

Select Voice & Data and pick the 3G network.

Doing this gave me full bars within a few seconds and it is still working well.

Hope this helps, please let me know if this works for you.
