iPhone 12 pro scratched screen

I've only had my iPhone 12 pro for 3 days, haven't left the house & yet I already have significant scratches on the 'super strong' ceramic glass front screen! Anyone else experienced this? #notveryhappy

Well, after contacting both Vodafone (my upgrade provider) and Apple, the response for both was no replacement.. Apple support encouraged me to write up a proper negative feedback, which i did and neither of them offered any care advice.

After a bit of research I bought a screen protector by Mous Uk, what they call hybrid glass, and Im very happy wt it. It comes wt an applicator and instructions and I cannot notice the scratches underneath it now, also the touch response is the same as not using any protector. I just wish I knew beforehand about this screen flaw in the new models as I would have waited and installed this even before i turned on the phone for the first time. I never had that with previous models, my last Iphone XS was used wt no screen protector for two years and nothing like this happened.

Apple should definitely review and improve this glass screen, this is not good enough for a device this expensive. #unimpressed

I am stunned that you would compare using a phone without a screen protector to not using sunscreen! What's wrong with you people? Skin cancer is now comparable to a scratch on your phone?

And yes, Apple do push extras (like car companies) when you buy from them but typically they push for their own benefit, not the benefits of others (screen protector suppliers); they push Apple Care Protection Plans and they pushed it hard when I bought my two iPhone 12 Pros.

You made that assertion.

If you are only outside in sunlight for ten minutes at most every day, most doctors would say you don't need sunscreen at all.

They don't push it, they just warn what the costs will be if you don't get it.

It's still your choice.

This is all a load of bull. I don’t want a shatter proof screen. I want scratch proof.

now I will have to buy and install screen protectors by the dozens so I can replace them when they show signs of wear.

all this would not be necessary if the glass on my iceRink 11 was the same as on my iPhone 6 Plus on which I never once has a protector in 6 years and not a single scratch not even the slightest.

Apple offers high end products. Tell me in 1998 that Instead of paying 150 for a phone I’d be paying 1500 and I’d tell you you were out of your mind.

if they can produce different colours they can sure as heck produce different types of glass to suit your preference. If you want shatter proof, great. I and many others here want scratchproof instead, like we used to have.

Tempered glass just doesn't protect the screen. It's a hoax.

That's not true; it's actually basic physics.

By shattering the tempered glass actually absorbs some of the kinetic energy that otherwise would be transmitted to the phone display.

This is one reason why modern race cars break into pieces rather than stay together; the destruction helps mitigate the kinetic energy of the crash before reaching the driver.

Because that was you.

As a veteran of these boards I can tell you we used to see multiple posts per week about replacing shattered screens.

With the iPhone 11 and 12 it’s dropped to near zero.

If you want to believe Apple reads these boards for feedback, feel free to live in fantasy; those of us who have been here for over a decade know Apple employees, have talked to them in depth and know that they do not.

It is trolling. We don’t care about the shatter issue. We care about the scratch issue. Apple reads these forums they say so themselves. I also know you and William think you are getting Apple brownie points and I see you both are at levels 7 and 10. You troll around denying people’s valid concerns. Apple - please note you are encouraging and rewarding trolls and it’s wearing away at my NPS score because it’s so aggravating that the issue isn’t acknowledged by these trolls.

Thank you Apple, tho, for acknowledging the issue and replacing my iceRink 11 screen free. I am taking care of it without a case or protector and so far so good after a week. Perhaps the replacement screen is better and less prone to scratches. Or perhaps I’m being more mindful. But, Apple- please stop encouraging people to patrol the message boards and denying the valid concerns of posters. It’s very disconcerting.

Trolls/apologists/points-gainers like William and lobster ghost: please leave this thread. Your comments are not constructive or helpful and if anything are insulting. I’m a grown man. And if I want a scratch-resistant screen that I used to have until 2021 when I bought my first iceRinkPhone I deserve to complain and to be heard without denial that I have a valid issue. So please go away and let those with legitimate complaints just be heard and offer constructive advice to one another.
