Apple watch showing email on Acitivty App instead of names

My wife just got her apple watch yesterday and I added her as a friend on activity sharing and it shows her email instead of her name. The email is tied to her contact. No one else on my activity sharing shows an email, they all show their name. The email is what she uses for her Apple account.

I've tried removing the email from the contact and adding it again, changing her contact name, and deleted/adding her back. Also have made sure both my phone and watch are up to date.

Not sure what else to do. Please help?

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We’re glad you decided to reach out about your wife’s Apple ID email address showing instead of her name in your Activity Sharing tab. You mentioned that she just got her Apple Watch, is it still happening?

We’re asking because it can take awhile for an Apple ID to fully activate on a device, and it may have been why her email address was showing instead of her name. If she sends you a message from her watch, does it come in as her email address or name? This will give you an idea about whether it’s an activation issue.

If you haven’t already, try restarting her Apple Watch and iPhone. Try yours too, just in case.

You might try adding her from your Contacts at outlined here, if you haven’t already.

I figured it out. I had a contact with her name that included the email, etc, but I also had a contact for some reason of just her email. Not sure how but once that got deleted it fixed itself.
