15" MacBook Pro 2018 External Display Flickering

All the posts that are connected to this kind of problem are old from a year or more ago, so I'm starting a new one.

Over the last three months or so, my computer, while connected to my LG 4K external monitor using a direct HDMI to USB-C cable, my external display will display pixellation and random pink or green colors for a split second before it flashes off and back on at random times. (There is no USB-C port on this monitor, so I can't do USB-C to USB-C.)

I'm starting to notice a pattern, and the flicker appears to happen mostly when my computer is under load, but sometimes it does appear to be totally random. When under load, I'd estimate it flickers every 20-30 minutes or so. This problem really reduces my productivity, and it has become extremely annoying.

I hope this is just a macOS bug that will be fixed as soon as Big Sur comes out, but I'm not holding out hope... :(
