my iphone was lost on 9/19 & I got an email saying someone has tried to activate it. I can now see exactly where it is at on find my iphone (grrr) should I erase it completely or will that mean I can never locate or see it again? Will it effect my current phone's info since it's all through icloud?

Note that if you delete it, you’ll break the Find My location tracking feature. BUT, as long as it remains listed as a trusted device under your AppleID, it is activation locked. Nobody can activate it and set it up for use while it is a listed device under your AppleID.

No. You’re erasing the device, not information stored in iCloud.
I have The exact address of where it is right now, I'd like to go there and get it back! I did file a police report.. I am hoping they can go retrieve it for me
