I'm net to iPhones, and my old android was broken, so I am not transferring anything to my new iphone 11, but I am keeping my old phone number.
I set up an apple ID account when prompted during the initial set up, but now the phone is on, but is not active, as it is not linked to old phone number.
Will I need to call my cell provider? (who the phone was purchased from)
I just want a working phone
Setting up an Apple ID does not do anything with your old phone number.
You should absolutely contact your carrier.
