Hello margoline,

Thanks for using Apple Support Communities! We understand you are looking for some help with adding Widgets back to your Home Screen. We are happy to help.

To add or customize Widgets to the Home Screen on your iPhone, all you need to do is lightly press and hold on an empty area of your Home Screen until you see the apps start to jiggle. Then tap the '+' button in the upper left corner of the screen to browse through the available Widgets.

Take a look at this helpful guide that goes over how to add and customize Widgets on your iPhone:

Use widgets on your iPhone and iPod touch

We hope this helps!

Cheers.

Hey there margoline,

Thanks for getting back to us with that information. It sounds like maybe just the app icon for Messages was deleted instead of a Widget being deleted. Let's try to see if we can re add just the app back to your Home Screen.

While on your Home Screen, please swipe left until you see the screen for the "App Library". Once there, use the search bar at the top to search for "Messages". When you see the icon for Messages appear, please press and hold on the icon and slide your finger over to drag the icon out of the App Library and place it on to your Home Screen. This should get your Messages app to re appear back on your devices Home Screen.

Organize the Home Screen and App Library on your iPhone

Let us know if that works out.

Best Regards.

Hi Jeff,

I tried what you suggested but I get a box that contains several widgets including the Messages widget but they're ALL clustered together. There's no way to separate the Messages widget from the others showing up in that box which are apps that I recently opened.

Right now, the only way to get to Messages is to go back to 'search', the last apps visited show up, then click onto Messages widget to be able to write a Message. I want JUST the Messages green bubble widget to come back.

Can you help me?

Jeff,

I'm so sorry to keep bothering you! I did what you said and the icon for the app appeared. However, it won't move to my home screen. Instead a box shows up that says New Message, then shows the last 3 people I sent messages to. When I click onto the green icon it does go to Messages, but it's still an at least 2-step process.

When I click the green Messages ballon from the Search bar when swiping right, a white box appears that says, All Messages, Known Senders, and Unknown Senders

I'm a 67 year old grandmother and I'm sorry I'm not doing something right, but I still need your help, please?

Thank you,

Margot'
