app store won't accept my apple ID since IOS 14 update

I updated my iPhone7 to IOS 14 today, and since then I have been fighting with the App Store. There are 50+ updates waiting to update (and those apps are rendered unusable in the meantime), and I keep getting a pop up to verify my apple id. If I enter an incorrect password I get an immediate "You entered and incorrect apple id or password" pop up, but when I use the correct password the bubble disappears for a moment and then pops right back up. I have signed out of my apple id countless times, hard rebooted the phone, changed my password completely, signed into my apple id on my pc to make sure the password was correct, signed out of just the app store and signed back in, and nothing has corrected the problem. Not to mention, that the constant "waiting to update" and requests for verification are causing my phone to run extremely hot, and the battery is drained within an hour.

I'm at a loss at what else to try to fix this.....and my phone is essentially unusable beyond the phone or text function right now, besides the fact that I can't rely on it to hold a charge if I happen to leave the house.
