Is it possible to create an automation that turns on a fan to run for 20 minutes and turn off every hour?

Hi, dodoms.

Welcome to the Apple Support Communities. We’re glad you decided to reach out about creating custom automations for your Home app. If we understand correctly, you’d like the automation to activate and then turn off twenty minutes later, every hour.

You can create an automation to repeat daily that activates the smart plug the fan is plugged into, and set it to turn off after a certain period of time. You aren’t able to get it to recur at specific time intervals, so may entail creating several automations.

For example, create an automation to activate the plug at 10:00 p.m. and turn off after 20 minutes every day, then create another automation to activate the plug at 11:00 p.m., etc.

Thank you for your response, I appreciate it. However, I feel like that is a bit much to accomplish what I would like to do. I have another app that will allow me to do what I want to do, but wanted to do it within the Homekit app and get rid of the other app. Perhaps you can take this feedback to the appropriate team and have them consider added the functionality. There are new regulations that consumers may need to comply with regarding ventilating their homes/energy efficiency and it would be nice to be able to do it from within HomeKit. Regs such as, ASHRAE 62.2, CAL Title 24 as well as any other current energy efficient guidelines.
