What band are you connecting to on each phone? 2.4 GHz or 5 GHz? The 5 GHz band is faster, but has less range and doesn’t penetrate walls as well.
If there is a very large difference (e.g., the SE2 has a range of 10 feet and the 6 100 feet) then there’s probably a hardware issue in the SE. You can try standard troubleshooting:
If none of that helps use the Contact Support link at the top of this page to discuss repair options.

HI Lawrence.
Thanks for your reply. My I phone SE 2 has a range of 20 feet and my old iphone 6 and my wife's iphone 6 have a range of 50 feet. I have tried all the things you have suggested as per the apple support. Should I just get a wifi extender and if so what type would you recommend.
Thanks
Bruce
That sounds more like a problem with your phone. Contact Apple about having it evaluated. Does it happen on all networks, or just your home network? Both 20 feet and 50 feet sound abnormally low; even 5 GHz Wi-Fi should easily have 150 feet with no obstructions, 2.4 GHz even more.
If you have a large space replacing the router with a mesh network is a better solution than a range extender.
Hi Lawrence .
It happens of 2.4 and 5 G network at home. I do not know about other networks. I will have to assess this. I have talked to apple and they have said the phone is fine. based on their on line assessment. I can only think of going back to the store and have apple assess it there.
Hi Lawrence,
I read on an apple community site to go to settings , click on cellular . go all the way down to the bottom and find
Wifi Assist and turn it off.
This has helped my wifi range.
Not as good as my wife's i phone 6 but better
