After the Apple logo appears on my iPod classic, A big red X appears inside a red circle. I can go no further. ...at the bottom of the screen it gives me this www.apple.c/support/ipod. I need help to try to use my iPod and decipher what all this means
The hard drive has probably failed. See If you see a red X icon on your iPod classic or iPod nano (5th generation or earlier) - Apple Support (archived copy). You could consider swapping out the drive with some form of SD adaptor kit.

my iPod has a big red x in the center of a circle and at bottom of screen it says-www.apple.com/support/ipod AFTER the apple Logo appears. the Apple logo appears first
