Homekit hub

Hello

So I have a problem and I’m hoping mybe here someone can help

The thing is my apple tv is connected to Ethernet via cable and it works for my HomeKit as a hub.

The problem is that when I leave my home all my HomeKit devices are not responding they only work when I’m on my home wifi,

But when i disconnect ethernet cable from apple tv and it switches to wifi then HomeKit works as it should also when I’m not at home on same wifi.

What is the issue here and how to fix it?

I have remembered that I encountered a similar issue (unable to access Homekit devices remotely) when I was staying at an AirBNB. I set up a spare ATV there and, even though it wasn't acting as a Home Hub in that apartment, I was unable to access my real home whenever my iOS devices were connected to the apartment wifi. As it happens my real Home Hub ATV is connected by ethernet. I didn't think of trying connecting it by wifi but it might have worked then, as you have found.

So... it could be a bug in the Homekit software.
