Imac Late 2013 with thunderbolt

Hello everyone,

I wish to buy a transcend jetdrive 855 witch i put the link below and use it as a boot drive :

I am under Catalina 10.15.6

Get yourself a USB 3.x drive. For the amount you intend

to spend on that drive, you can get 2TB SSDs from SanDisk

or Samsung!

You will still see significant speed improvements over the internal HDD

of your iMac.

Absolutely and positively wrong! USB 3.0 is 5 Gb/s!

USB 2.0 is 480 Mb/s

Late 2013 iMac spec itself:

Compatible simply means you can use a USB2 device with it.

USB 3.0 is limited to 480Mb/s, thunderbolt is much higher. Thats why i ask about this device.

Moreover, USB3.2 is more reliable and faster with a UASP protocole, but my imac got USB 3.0 witch is limited on transfer rate.

Thunderbolt 1 got 10Gb/s, so better results than usb 3.0

so can i use a thunderbolt ssd with my OS on external device?
