Family Sharing. Define a “family.”

Some of our DNA connected people live away at college. Some live under different roofs on the same property. What, according to Apple’s Family Sharing program, is a family?

Hello!

A Family is just a group of people. Organizers and Parents/Guardians can set content restrictions for people under the age of 16 to the best of my knowledge. Family Sharing enables sharing of services like iCloud Storage above 200GB, Apple Music, Apple TV+, etc. and purchased content like music from iTunes, movies, and apps.

See this link about creating a family and adding people to an existing one. These users only need a unique Apple ID to become part of a Family and that is literally the only requirement. You could invite a random stranger if you wanted to. A Family and Family Sharing are not the same thing, but a Family is required for Family Sharing.

Hope this provided clarification!
