Can I use Headphones

I just purchased the new macbook Pro 13 Inch...

tried plugging in my regular apple headphones & it won't plug in.

Do I need to buy something separate?

Your Mac has a standard 3.5mm audio jack, so 'regular' headphones will work.

iPhone 7 and later have no standard headphone jack, so EarPods with a Lightning connector are used with them. You can connect those headphones to your Mac with a Lightning to USB-C Audio Adapter, but honestly it's probably easier and cheaper to just buy a set of normal headphones or earbuds. Of course, Apple would love to sell you some AirPods 😉.
