Vertical Lines or Stripes on Startup screen

My super old 27" iMac may have crapped it's pants. I updated it a few weeks ago and it struggled with the update, but after another try, it was able to load properly and we didn't have any issues.

However, it randomly stopped turning on and now when it does turn on, all I see is this screen with vertical stripes. Not sure if anyone else has seen this?

I have tried the special startup key combos to try and reinstall, but this is all I can see.

Thoughts?

iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

Is it a 2011 27" iMac? Post a screenshot of the About this Mac window (blank out the serial number before posting).

It looks like the GPU (graphi processor unit) is failing.

Give it a nice Irish wake and move on to a new iMac. If you do get a new iMac only order the 8 GB of RAM and upgrade yourself with modules from Crucial.com or MacSales.com. You can upgrade to 24 GB (two additional 8 GB modules) for about ⅓ of what Apple charges to upgrade to 16 GB.

I think it might be even older than a 2011. I would love to take a screenshot, but since I can't get it past this screen, I don't see how I can do that?

Doubting that Apple would be able to replace something like this since it is so old. I am willing to accept that it's time has come to an end...
