Keynote Crashes on iPhone 12 Pro After Tapping Play

Every time I try to use my iPhone 12 Pro as a Remote for Keynote, I tap Play and the app on my phone crashes. The presentation starts just fine on the other device (both iPad and MacBook Pro), but I'm then left with no remote. This wasn't an issue I had on the iPhone 11Pro (but I don't remember the last time I used the Remote feature on my phone with the 11).

All devices are running the latest software and all apps are up to date. Keynote for iPad works as a remote for the MacBook Pro, but I'd rather hold a smaller device for the presentation.

Keynote on my iPhone has crashed consistently with my 12 Pro for the last 3 weeks, but I installed Big Sur today and now my iPhone and Keynote are playing nice. The Mac OS 11 upgrade seems to have fixed the issue.

Try deleting Keynote on the iPhone, then re-install Keynote from the App Store.

Quit and reopen an app on iPhone

Restart your iPhone

If those still don’t fix Keynote please update to iOS 14.2 if you have not yet:

Update your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch

If Keynote is still crashing please Contact Apple Support

It’s an issue with Keynote on the iPhone 12. Apple is aware, and we are just waiting on an update to fix it.

I too have the same issue, when trying to use my iphone12 as a remote for a keynote presentation on my macbook pro the keynote app on the iphone 12 crashes once the ‘green play’ icon is hit. Macbook on Big Sur and both phone and mac are updated to latest....just as a side my ipad connects and operates without any issues.
