Why the low Apple Card limit?

I just applied for the card and was kind of shocked at my credit limit, only a grand. That's not even enough to buy one of your better phones! The funny part is that I have a credit score above 800, no mortgage on my home or or 3 other rental homes and the only debt that I owe is a zero interest card to a lumber yard for less than $2,500. Anyone else find this odd?

  1. This is a user to user forum. Apple is not here.
  2. Credit Limit for Apple card is based on a number of factors: How your Apple Card application is evaluated - Apple Support
  3. If your credit limit lower than expected, you should have received an email to the email address used to apply explaining the reasons.
  4. You can file a dispute with TransUnion if you believe the credit score provided by them for your application is wrong: https://www.transunion.com/credit-disputes/dispute-your-credit

  1. You explicitly stated: "That's not even enough to buy one of your better phones! " This suggests you think you are talking to Apple. Was just pointing out that you are not.
  2. Whether someone else has gotten a low credit limit, and yes many people have, its not like you are the only one; is not very relevant to your own particular case. As scores are specific to each application. People get low credit limits for different reasons that may have nothing to do with your own particular case.
  3. There is no way for us to know why you got a low credit limit. Contact Apple Support or Goldman Sachs directly for that.

Yes, I have heard of very similar situations.

From what I understand, when GS does a soft credit pull, they look at how "fat" your credit profile is.

With very high credit scores, they are looking for different algorithms like credit usage, age of accounts, and activity.

People with high scores but low credit activity I have seen either declined or low CL.

On the flip side, people with low scores (under 680) are getting very high limits due to high credit activity (multiple cards w/ balances)....

How is this even helpful?

  1. I don't care if Apple support replies or not or is even part of this forum. I was interested in the views and histories of other Apple Card applicants.
  2. I know how credit cards and limits work, that is why I am confused. I am debt free with a score above 800.
  3. The only email that I got stated that I was approved, it did not elaborate.
  4. I suppose it is possible that they reported a low score but doubtful. My score actually dropped from 825 to 824 after I was approved.

850 is the maximum score so again I am interested in if anyone else would have the same type issue with this card as it seems incredible to offer such a low limit to a person with such a high score and no debt, home or auto with only 1 small balance on an interest free 2 year deal.
