Every few days I get a message through email about an app I did not purchase. These apps are usually $25 and above and I did not order them. Is there any way to stop this from happening?

More than likely, it's a phishing scam. I get them too.
Never click on the links in suspect emails.
Sign into your apple account as you normally would and check for purchases. If the questionable purchase is not there, don't worry about the bill, worry about how they got your email.
