when I double tap it responds by switching from pen to eraser but it will not write. I have restarted by iPad Pro and disconnected the pencils and reconnected. Still does not work.

What are you trying to write in? What app? I see you have made sure to re-pair the Pencil. Check your settings for the Pencil as well.
Thank you. Apparently the tip to the pencil screwed off a little. I retightened and it is now working. I had no idea that could even happen. I’m new to iPad Pro and pencil.
