My new MacBook Pro won't turn on

Just got a new MacBook Pro. I cannot get it to turn on.

The only screen that I can get to show up is the "dead battery" screen (red battery icon).
I have tried to charge the new computer with the provided USB-C cable (for maybe 45 minutes).
I have also tried to charge it with the charging cable from my wife's computer...with the same results.

Any clues here?

Have you pressed the on/off Button for a long time? (maybe 10-20 sec)

Otherwise I would also recommend Sharharis idea of contacting the Apple support.
