Static noise in Oticon hearing aids

I just upgraded to the iPhone 12 Pro from the iphone 11. I have had my Oticon hearing aids connected to bluetooth for the last 2 years with zero problems. Since upgrading, I am now getting a terrible random static noise in my ears. I can't deal with this noise -- any fix on the way for this?? This isn't something I can deal with on the regular.

I have had this small annoying problem with the new iPhone 12 pro. I am currently dealing with AppleCare and no fix as of this time. Working with them on 11/3/20 and right now on 11/6/20. Being transferred again up the chain.

My aids did this 4 times in the last 2 hours for no apparent reason. Once just doing a search in Contacts. again opening an email and once just turning off the iPhone. It makes no sense.

I also have an Iphone 12 with a loud intermittent squelch noise on my Oticon hearing aids . IT usually happens when Receiving a message ,also when receiving a call ,and at times when i'm on youTube. Also one of the hearing aids gets disconnected intermittent for a moment and comes back on by it self. I been using my oticon hearing aids on my previous Iphone 6 with no problems . I also had the IOS 14 on the Iphone6. Any ideas or help. Thanks

I'm SO glad I'm not the only one - WOW is that static LOUD....scared the crap out of me the first time and it's constantly happening. I have the latest iphone now and it's only happened on it. Not on my old one.

Has anyone tried Oticon? One of the big selling points is the compatability of the hearing aids and iphone/ipad. I have a brand new ipad i use to watch movies and so far i've NEVER heard the static. I've had the ipad about 4 months and it works fine.

I also have a problem with one or the other hearing aids dropping out of connection - again never happened on old phone or ipad.

It's all pretty annoying !

I have been in contact with Apple and they said they are getting closer to a fix. Until then I was told to go into settings - accessibility - Hearing Devices - top item, MFI hearing devices - Uncheck “Stream to left hearing device”

Do this until we get an update fix. I have not had the static noise since I did this. You will only hear with your right hearing aid until it is fixed.

I don't believe this is left channel issue I believe it is a problem with the iphone 12 (whatever flavor) having problems streaming 2 low power blue tooth signals, which mfi hearing aids utilize, at the same time. Try this little experiment when streaming and either the right or left hear aid begins to glitch go into accessibility options and disable streaming to the WORKING hearing aid. I have found out, that will stabilize the glitching hearing aid. Let it stream it for awhile to prove that it stays stable then re-enable the disabled hearing aid. Most of the time for me the re-enabled hearing aid comes back up and is stable while the hearing aid that was fixed become unstable again.

lets hope they have a firmware fix for this and its not a limitation of the new hardware design.

Hi Dhidrogo,

Thank you for sharing feedback about your current experience. There’s a recently updated Apple article related to what you are describing and states "Apple is aware of this issue and will provide a fix in a future software update."

If your Made for iPhone hearing device has sound quality issues when connected to an iPhone 12 model

Thank you!
