Unable to speak in Zoom

During a recent attempt to join a Zoom session for our bridge club, I was unable to speak, I believe I need to change to a different search engine possibly Google Chrome, how do I do this, your help would be most appreciated

along with SystemPreferences>Security & Privacy settings, make sure to go into Zoom Preferences>Audio tab and uncheck BOTH "mute my mic" + "press and hold"
