2017 MacBook Pro to Mac for display/dual screen
I have a MacBook Pro 2017 with thunderbolt 3 port and I want to use an older Mac to display for editing photos/video. What cable do I need? I keep finding conflicting information.
iMac 27″, macOS 10.13

only certain iMac are supported as displays.
Only iMac running High Sierra or older are supported.
2020 model MacBook Pro no longer has support for this feature at all.
Use your iMac as a display with target display mode - Apple Support

Hi,
If your old Mac, I assume it's a iMac, your iMac has Thunderbolt 2 or 1, you need to connect with USB-C(Thunderbolt 3) to Thunderbolt2 or 1 adapter or cable.
