Apple Iphone 8 plus Home button cracked

Hello,

Last week suddenly my apple Iphone 8 plus home button cracked. I didn't fall or bumped into anything it was charging on table and saw the cracked once 100% charged. The Iphone is almost 2 years old and out of warranty . What you guys suggest how much its going to cost me or is there any chance apple can fix it without any charge ? I am trading this phone with att trad in deal and was planning to get new apple 12 pro . Please suggest how can get maximum value for my trad-in.

Again, you have no statistical information to base your claims on. Apple has sold literally millions upon millions upon millions of iPhone 7/8. There are people still using them in my office, with no cracks in the home buttons. Your comment above "either lots of people are abusing their phones," is more likely.

The phones came with a one year warranty or if you purchased an AppleCare+ Plan and it still valid, you can use that plan. Otherwise, your one year warranty has likely expired and you'll have to pay the repair price.

I'll play your silly game - assume you can do a basic internet search of this issue dating back to iPhone 7 and carrying over to the iPhone 8. Now if we assume that's its virtually impossible to cause a hair line crack in the phone without overt abuse then either lots of people are abusing their phones or there exist a design flaw that Apple recognized and it's remedy in subsequent phones was the elimination of the "home" button. Apple obviously does not want to be put in a "recall" situation, common sense, let the consumer suck on it! But the way to get Apple's attention is by using government resources that you pay taxes for to collect historical data and approach Apple for best results. I'm a hard core Apple/Mac user, spending tens of thousands of dollars on Apple products so I expect no less then perfection and when there is a flaw and Apple puts on blinders then resources must be used to correct the situation.
