The model number can be found in the Settings on the device.

This does not help. I need to know how to use my serial number outside of my iphone. In other words, my phone is not functional right now, and I cannot go to General>about....
Quick tip:
Although not stated, this website will also work with your IMEI number which is easier to locate if the device is non-functional.
