My Macbook Shuts Down At 20%.
I realize that this discussion was here before, but I didn't find anything helpful in there. I did Apple Diagnostics and it resulted in "No Issues Found". So I don't know what is happening.

If your battery says service recommended, then I would take it in to get it replaced. Once batteries start to fail, they tend to swell and can cause damage to other parts.
FWIW, Apple Diagnostics are not all that accurate, so start a repair ticket online or take it to an authorized service provider or an Apple store for an evaluation.
And, the batteries in newer devices should be used regularly.
Both Zoom and Firefox can use a bit of system resources.
Activity Monitor can be useful to shut down runway apps
and locate things are hanging, etc. ~ Just saying..
Also these newer portable Macs need extra power.
Take care & good luck!🌤🐝
So there is no solution but having to keep the charger in?
20% battery?
if so
keep the power adaptor plugged in as much as possible, also run a battery test like the one Catalina has or even coconut battery
worse comes to worse i hope you can actually replace your MacBook air battery.
Yes I have already done battery test, and it says service reccomended but that doesn't mean it should jut shut down my computer at 20% battery.
my MBAs also wants a service but that was after a Mojave update last month, as well as a mountain lion one.
anyways
when the MacBook shuts down, what apps/functions are we performing?
that could be the problem if video or heavy usage is effecting the MacBook.
I am just running zoom meetings, and firefox.

This would expose a variety of busy-to-sleepy items inside macOS.
An EtreCheck report in reply may also show something less evident.
Good luck & happy computing!🌞🌜
zoom is giving everyone's macbook air problems.
that program needs your MacBook air to be plugged in constantly
im streaming a college football game on my MacBook air to the apple TV tonite
and need that power source just for simple physics and the design of the MacBook air
these batteries can only produce so much.
I am not really sure what to think. I went to the Energy stuff and ran it on Activity Monitor and I rana diagnostics report and I am not sure if there was anything that went wrong, though I did Apple diagnostics and there were no issues.

Think of your macbook air as a flashlight with batteries, why keep the flashlight on when you don't need light.
my macbook air is always plugged in since 2010 and the battery hold a great charge today.

I'll do that.
By the way, have you checked your battery health?
Go to the Apple > about this Mac > system report > scroll down and click on Power and you will get a similar window:
Check the number of cycles and the condition.
Okay so I checked and it has 834 cycles with “Service Recommended” as the condition, as such I plan to replace the battery soon
Glad you checked - yes, I would certainly do that soon before it starts swelling and damaging the keyboard and logic board.
