punctured battery

I have an iphone with a shattered back screen. while trying to chip some of the glass away, i think i punctured the battery and a puff of smoke was released. It’s been 45 mins and there hasn’t been anymore smoke but is the phone safe to keep in the house or should i take it outside in case it suddenly explodes? Not sure how sensitive or stable the punctured battery is??? TIA!

Wrap it kitchen foil, or in a tin box, preferably outside if you have a back yard, and
