“Open in app” dialogue box disregards user input

Apple - iOS - Safari - cancel button in dialog box opens the referenced app rather than closing the box and returning to Safari

ex. When in Safari, I’ll click a link that results in a dialogue box asking me whether I’d like to “open in app” or “cancel.”I select “cancel” but the link opens up the app regardless. Is this a known issue?

Hello Captain_EO,

We understand that when using Safari, links are opened after you choose the option to cancel. Have you had the chance to Restart your iPhone since noticing this behavior? Does it happen in any other browsers? Is your iPhone running the latest iOS version of 14.2? You can check this in Settings > General > About.

Let's also Clear the history and cookies from Safari on your iPhone, iPad, or iPod touch. Does the issue persists after doing so?

Regards.
